Joni was born in Pottstown, PA on August 20, 1962, and lived in Union Township, attending
Daniel Boone School District. She graduated sixth in her class of 161 students.
Joni is predominately a self-taught artist, starting to draw when she was around twelve years
old. She attended Kutztown University as an art major, and studied oil painting with Helen
Cieniewicz, as well as commercial art classes with Charles Moon and Barbara Cimochowski.
Joni is versatile in many types of work, including sign painting, pastel portraits, oil paintings,
and a specialty, custom design greeting cards.
Joni works with a variety of media, including oil, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, marker
and acrylics. Her style ranges anywhere from abstract to illustrative to realism. She has done
many unique projects, such as lettering a boat, and an oil painting of a fire truck!
One of Joni’s favorite projects was illustrating two children’s books. Other unusual projects
included a mural at Jungle Wonder in Limerick, PA. In addition, she has done custom cards for
the American Heart Association, the former Brooke Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Birdsboro,
American Red Cross, and various other commissions.
Currently, Joni exhibits at:
ART PLUS GALLERY, West Reading – ongoing, every two months a new opening.
THE GALLERY ON HIGH, Pottstown-artist member, 3 to 4 shows a year.
STUDIO B, Boyertown
GOGGLEWORKS, Reading
Other exhibits have included Birdsboro Library, YWCA Women’s Festival of Art, St. Peter’s
Village, The YR Club of Reading.
Joni continues to develop new and exciting projects and looks forward to future shows and
