Children’s Mini Print Workshop

Inkless Intaglio on the Mini Hardwood Press

Children bring your creativity to this fun Mini Print Workshop with me.

We will be learning how to make a traditional print by using a non-toxic

printmaking technique called ‘Inkless Intaglio’.  Together we will explore ways to draw out our ideas in reverse onto plastic, we will handle soft materials and use many colors.  Each of you will make a Print on nice Printmaking paper to take home with you.

Time: 10:00 – 12:00pm

Instructor: Melissa Strawser

Ages: 7-12

Cost: $20/per child

Minimum: 2 students

Dry Felting a Piece of Jewelry and Wet Felting Soaps

Hour 1: An introduction to what felting is. We will explore the origins of felting and
make some small jewelry pin out of alpaca and merino  (sheep) fiber.
Hour 2: Take that beautiful soap you made last week, or if you didn’t make soap,
bring your own (new bar) and felt it!  We will be felting soaps and playing with the
different techniques of wet and dry felting.  This is a workshop that will cover a lot
of territory, and you can build from past experience or learn from new ones. All
materials will be provided except for your soap.

Time: 12:30 – 2:30

Nuno Felting a Silk Scarf

Description: Nuno felting is the art of felting fibers in such a way that they migrate
into the weave of the silk. Beautiful textures and color combinations can be
created. This is an advanced course that depends on some knowledge of wet
felting. And, it is labor intensive and not for the feint of heart. All materials will be
provided.

Time: 3:00 – 5:00

Class Size: 4

Ages: adults only
