History Talks with Bob Wood return this May!

1:00-2:00 pm.

Encore Presentations, newly revised

May 7: Five Plate Stoves: Their Manufacture, Installation and Use in Germanic Pennsylvania.
Except for the most humble dwelling, Germanic houses were universally furnished with these
practical and efficient heaters. A power point presentation.

May 14: Making Charcoal Iron in the Schuylkill Watershed. Abundant forest for charcoal and
high-quality iron ore combined to keep molten iron flowing from early local furnaces.

May 21: Log buildings in Germanic South Eastern Pennsylvania. It’s safe to say that logs were
the primary building material in early rural Pennsylvania.

May 28: Kitchen Gardens; Then and Now. Immigrants brought with them European garden
culture that went back into the depths of time and which they soon transplanted here.
